Dicarcono S.L. receives a grant for improving production capacity and energy savings.

The subsidized project consisted of the installation and commissioning of a new industrial ice cream cone production line (sugar wafer rolled into a cone shape) to replace the current production line, which is completely obsolete in terms of quality, productivity, and energy efficiency.

The line to be replaced presented numerous production deficiencies, resulting in an energy cost per cone produced that was completely unacceptable for the company, both economically and environmentally.

The replaced line had an average performance rate close to 75%. This meant that at the current working speed (242 positions x 75 seconds of cooking), 11,616 cones per hour were produced, of which only 8,712 cones were conforming. The remaining cones were non-conforming due to defects in cooking and rolling, and could not be used.

In other words, considering the gas consumption in watts per hour declared by the production line itself, 36.7 watts of gas were required to produce one conforming cone, and with the new equipment, we will reduce this to an average of 29.8 watts of gas per conforming cone.

As of today, with the installation of the new production line, the product’s energy footprint will allow us to save 434 MWh of natural gas.
